Heritage Preservation Society

The Heritage Preservation Society (HPS) was founded through the Masters of Heritage Preservation (MHP) program at Georgia State University in the fall of 2009 in order to foster the preservation movement in the City of Atlanta and to advance the education and careers of those interested in the fields of heritage preservation. Through social networking and education forums, we bring the MHP GSU community together to experience a new aspect of the MHP program. Students, alumni, and faculty of the GSU MHP program as well as preservation professionals are encouraged to join and become involved in HPS.

Our first year was a great success with events such as a brown bag lunch lecture at The Georgia Trust, a volunteer workday at Oakland Cemetery with The Georgia Trust, a tour of Oakland Cemetery led by Kevin Kuharic and happy hour at Six Feet Under, and a behind the scenes tour of the Fox Theatre and Georgian Terrace, and an exclusive tour of homes in Marietta with Maryellen Higginbotham.

If you are interested in getting involved or supporting the Heritage Preservation Society, please complete a membership application form. If you have any questions, please email us at [email protected]. We hope to see you all at an upcoming HPS event!
